How to Refresh Open Graph Images on Social Media

Social Media Marketing

Christopher Wray

Introduction

Yesterday, I was wanting to post a link to our updated website here at Soltech on Facebook and LinkedIn, but I soon realized that no matter how often I would refresh my social page, the image on the link and text stayed the same.

I did a Google search and soon found out how to easily refresh the image and text on Facebook and LinkedIn (or any other platform) and wanted to share with you what I found.

Solution

In order to refresh the image on LinkedIn and other social platforms, all you need to do is add ?reset=1 to the end of the URL that you want to share in your post.

See an example below:

  • Original URL: solmediaco.com
  • Modified URL: solmediaco.com?reset=1

For Facebook, you need to go to their debugging page, enter the URL of your page and then click “Debug”. You may need to click debug twice because I had to yesterday.

After that, Facebook's cache will be refreshed and you can post your link!
